UAE ratifies the Marrakesh VIP Treaty
30 octobre 2014
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) ratified the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled (the Marrakesh VIP Treaty) on October 15, 2014 and is the third country to do so after India and El Salvador.
The Treaty was adopted on June 27, 2013 in Marrakesh. Its entry into force requires the deposit of 20 instruments of ratification or accession by eligible parties.
The Marrakesh VIP Treaty is critical in setting up the legal framework to allow for the production and distribution across borders of books in accessible formats. The Accessible Books Consortium supports the objectives of the Marrakesh VIP Treaty through its three main activities at the operational level.
